For me
It would be thrilling
To be called
The new Bob Dylan
Whether or not
John Prine was willing
Or even found it fulfilling
To have that kind of billing

John’s words
Were like a novel
Causing other
Songwriters to grovel
At the stories
He could tell
From inside
His creative well

To be known as
The new Dylan
Or even as
His fillin
Is an honor
Yes indeed
Once you give ‘em
Both a read

John had a way
With words
Like Dylan
And it occured
To song critics
And the like
When he
Was on a mike
