It’s a dark night
We’re out on the porch
Got my phone in my hand
Just scrolling
I’m not taking any of it in
Headphones are connected

Harness Your Hopes is playing

He’s sat in front of me
Playing with some bugs
He can feel my eyes on him
Turns around
Smiles
Turns back

We both look at the sky
One star
He says “make a wish”
I’m hesitant
But I do it anyway
I always do

It’s the same wish
Every time
I just never specify for how long

“Forever. You know that right?”

“Yeah.”
“I know.”

Guess I finally get that starting line
