I am blinded
By gunfire for the rest of my life
I don't want to live in
A prison cell
They are shooting
The stars
Waiting for the sun
Come on up
As souls find their peace
My car is out of diesel
We left earth too quick
The knowledge burns by a wick
The silence remains
No evidence of violence stays
Our scholars warned us
Ominous events made us paranoid schizophrenics
Turns out we weren't hallucinating this
Humanity is perishing
Yet they said we were perishable
We can struggle
We can lug our loved ones
We might not have enough ground
To bury our close ones
We might not have enough ground
For trees either
We have the whole earth
To look after as our sun closes in
And the moon wants more
Than being a shadow on our mere planet
I realized that today
After everything she has done
We are not any richer
Neither are we any poorer
It would just turn us into kinder and better people
