Pretending
She cries in the dark,
Alone in her bed.
And uses the pillow,
To cover her head.
She wakes in the morn,
And paints on a grin,
And she says, "Just fine,"
When asked how she's been.
She smiles at strangers;
Lends others a hand.
And works... hours after,
She's too tired to stand.
She goes to the party,
And laughs at the pun.
Gives a hug as she leaves,
And says, "I had fun."
Makes a call to her mother,
To catch up on the day.
Then kneels at her bedside,
To silently pray.
Then........
She cries in the dark,
Alone in her bed.
And uses the pillow,
To cover her head.
