She does not have regrets.

She dodges them.  She turns

herself around,

sits upside down.

Elle n'a pas de regrets.

As Edith might say.

She has eruptions,

trembling hands.

headaches, sweat stains.

She occasionally pretends

she is full of  joy. She pays

for the coins.

Somewhere in the

night images dance,

they sing.  She wakes to

sorrow that another day

arrives.

She is just a pedestrian.

who shares an occasional

joy with strangers

who love her.

She paints regret

with a smile.
