When I look into your eyes
I see a warm safe gentle place
And although the world is dying
There’s still a smile upon your face
You tend to take for granted
What I hope for every day
And I know you’re not pretending
To be caught up in this race

Darkness has my number now
And this night’s forever long
There’s nothing left to believe in
‘Cause that part of me is gone
As I move on toward tomorrow
I’m thankful for the time
When love is all we had to share
In a world so unkind

I dreamt you were an angle
In a world so unkind
A light shone all around you
Suspending you in time
You came to heal the people
Of their sickness and disease
But you turned away in sorrow
‘Cause your touch could not heal me

It all felt so familiar
Like it happened yesterday
You left me in the ruins
And slowly walked away
