Familiarity rings off of the glass walls surrounding me
trapping me in seductive comfort.

Security in memories chains me to the cherry and the spoon
then drowns me in the Mississippi

The faces in my yearbooks have all worn and faded
dispersed into the pulse of reality.

A new city beckons me and I look to the sky for guidance
and the sea for wisdom.
