Mumbling to myself,
I walk out into the downpour.
Drenched and distraught,
I let my emotions pour.

The rain gets into my eyes,
Blending with the tears.
Out in a busy street,
Iā€™m alone with my fears.

The hunger may have gone,
But the goals are the same.
Try as I may,
But the numbness remain.

A couple walks by,
Reminding me of the good times;
When the sun shined,
Up in the sky and on our lives.

The flowers seem to fade,
Even in the rain.
The weather turns cold,
Intensifying the pain.

Mumbling to myself,
I walk through the downpour.
Drenched and distraught,
I let my emotions pour.
