I'd rather put a smile on my face, and laugh at all the cues,
not to stand that sympathetic stare,
I'd rather you didn't have a clue.

I'd rather you didn't ask
because then I'd have to explain, and the same; nothing would remain,
I'd rather you bask in ignorance.

I'd rather you not worry,
Hear the words: "I'm sorry",
To keep things informal,
I'd rather pretend I was normal.

I'd rather not burden,
See your face sadden,
Change the way you behave,
I'd rather take this to my grave.
