taxi driver
you may smell unsettling
and your belly might be closer to the wheel than your knees
but for the next ten minutes I am going to tell you stories
that I ordinarily wouldn't tell some of my closest friends
when I pay, bidding you farewell, I will tip you
and tomorrow I will remember that
your smell and obesity
didn't keep you from appreciating
a decent conversation with a stranger
and that only I was paying attention
to the smell and your obesity
which makes you better than me
