It feels so great when I’m on stage
Waving my arms, smiling, laughing
The audience goes crazy and I do too,
But then I leave the crowd and she’s still gone
Romantic love has its ups and downs
Why can’t I give her up?
I’m still in love with her
But she not with me
Everyone loves me
Performing is bliss, such a high
Singing songs of romantic love
How I warm their hearts
But it’s a disguise
For then it’s over, just like us
The joy departs
Tenderness, sweet kisses
All that is amorous
Is what I’m all about
But in real life, it’s a miss
I’m the poet of hope
All that’s good about love
But happy? Nope
Meet this sad lonely artist offstage
Walking a tightrope
