Solace
Such solace that I seek
Everyone has forgotten about me
It shows the world as weak
For this must be my destiny
I work for the poor and homeless
But there are not many like me
Consumed in the corporate world
Never thinking about those less free
I see the elderly everyday
In need of a helping hand
Congress wants to throw them away
Even some fought for this land
Nothing is about me
It's about giving people a place to land
They fight hard to protect the unborn
Then they abandon them without means
This work has to be my calling
Not many will do it
To stand tall for the hungry
Our seniors in our land
If I had one wish
I'd ask you to help out
Just a few bucks to donate
Instead of eating out
But, as I honestly know
You won't do that
Only caring about yourself
You refuse to see what is going on
That's ok though,
That's why their are people like me
To take up the slack
Maybe you just don't see
I have no idea why I write such things
Most don't listen or just ignore it away
I have to seek solace
For there is no other way
