Because at the end
when the bean counters
tot up their sums and
add up the home runs
I'll stick to my guns
and go on my way.

They'll still cast me adrift,
the addict in an ocean of
addictive substances
and
me hardly able to contain
my experience of
excitement
would
die anyways.
