Sadness may come
In time it will go
It doesn’t have to show
No one has to know
Until it’s gone
Don’t look forlorn
Broken and torn
Put your best face on

Don’t look downcast
With a scowl on your face
In any case
Have patience and grace
Time changes tunes
As well as heals wounds
So don’t be broken and torn
Put your best face on

It’s automatic
Though it’s also strange
That nothing stays static
Things constantly change
Even feelings sometimes rearrange
Immediately after they’ve been estranged
Today you may be broken and torn
But you should always put your best face on

Never let anyone know
That you’re feeling down
Pick yourself back up
Right off of the ground
That is the remedy I’ve always found
To be tried and true and sound
But in any case
You should always put on your best face
