Nov 2019
As days become weeks another year passes
Same as notes on sheets become music for the masses
Half empty or half filled are the metaphoric glasses
Cave paintings of lovers left to be sorted into classes
Leaving lives in the balance with only doer faces
Still life images of the lost people and places
Civilization without expectations leaving no traces
Can’t stand up for falling down when no one embraces
No angels appear when demons cast their spell
Or heaven above when one's service is in hell
The gift of gab quickly turns into a rebel yell
Unless the crime committed beckons one to never tell
Soon the sweet beginning becomes a bitter end
Your lover undercover used to be your best friend
Forever is now and always will depend
On the weight of the world and the message that they send
No time like the present and certain as the past
Asking over and over why the love didn't  last
Storm clouds gather and in the shadows they cast
Darkened is the door and it’s closing very fast
Lightning crashes there’s no need asking why
Memories in the mind start flashing right by
Seasons will change why must everything die
Only to be reborn like a rainbow in the sky
In the wink of an eye the sun starts to shine
Lives intertwine and the feeling is fine
Until you remember December’s decline
Holidays are hell when you’re dependent on the wine
Nerves are shaking and hearts start breaking
Worn on your sleeve and there for the taking
Something is missing in the love that you’re making
Then everything is clear when you realize that you’re faking
Shoes can’t be filled when there’s a really high ceiling
Cards on the table that someone else is dealing
The game's just not the same, what a shame, it’s not appealing
Never fulfilling and never feeling that feeling
Like a rock in the glass or stick in the vein
Mainline bliss is not served up just the same
Never again will those feelings sustain
Once in a lifetime one is allowed free domain
So think long and hard before you sever those ties
Bid your farewells and say your goodbyes
For you will never again be able to look in those eyes
When the levee breaks don’t seem too surprised
