A STUPID, OR A LUCKLESS MAN?
He has worked hard all his life to reach a goal,
and endured contempt from people and his friends.
He's pretended not to hear their spurning words,
hoping that the crown of gold on him will fall.

Time has passed and still his goal is far away.
He has spent a lot of time on that old dream.
His concern is not for coins which he now lacks,
but for drafts he has at home; he can't display.

Men of thought do not expect from those around
save a question, "What have you as bank accounts?"
When the rich open their mouths, the poor should hark;
men with brain should know that gold can speak aloud.
