Deaf

On this day, I remember it so

‘Twas only twenty years ago

That he,

He was standing by the sea,

He was standing next to me.

That I,

I was chasing the air,

I didn’t have a care.

It was this exact spot that we met

And what a day we had:

Splashing water, finding starfish, and

Taking long walks up and down the shore.

He held me tight,

Then we parted the night,

And from him I heard nevermore.
