She sits in the coffee house
Hat pulled over the top of her head
Dressed classy in a Joni Mitchell way
She looks down at the table
To the gentle music overhead she does sway
I notice behind her is a suitcase
On top of it a stylish black leather bag
I realize this is how she begins each day
At 7 AM, this place becomes home
It’s respite she seeks
She’s homeless and alone
Here in Beverly Hills
Of all the places to be
Homeless, probably helpless
Trying her best to keep her dignity
I’ll go back to my office
She’ll stay on my mind
I’ll say a prayer for her
That peace she does find
Homelessness is such a huge problem in LA, California, the USA. We need to find compassionate solutions. It can happen to anyone.
