Here comes the tide
eating at my edges
washing away my resolve;
each wave taking more than the last
and I sit here
anticipating that one wave that will take me away;
pull me under,
swirl me around
and eventually let me sink
to the bottom
of that ******* ocean,
that I have tried so hard to stay away from,
I built my walls tall and thick
high up on the shore,
because I have discovered
that I no longer know
how to tread water.
