It was one of those car rides
Windows down
And the wind blows moribund

As you beg for the cliff
On the edge of your prerogative
You wish you could crash
To ecape your roguish metamorphosis

What ever happened to that old you
You never used to drive with such turpitude

You used to hug those curves
And sing with the radio
Smiling with your eyes fastidious in stereo

It was one those rides
With redolent flowers on the countryside

You pulled into the rest stop
To tilt your head back
And regain your consciousness

It was one of those rides
When you decide

I shouldn't be driving like this
