Maybe in your world
You feel no pain
And cry your tears
Beneath the rain.
And maybe in your world
You ain’t been blue,
And what you say
You need not do.

Maybe in your world
The stones gather moss
And love’s labors lost
Is just a sunk cost.
Maybe in your world
Your resolution soars
That the cause of peace
Calls for an act of war.

Maybe in your world
You waste away the years
Giving hostages to fortune,
Taking counsel of your fears.
Maybe in your world
You desecrate the halls
Of man and god and law,
Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Maybe in your world,
You’ll serve no time.
Maybe in your world,
Maybe in your world,
Maybe in your world,
But not in mine.

Maybe in your world
Justice you’ve been told
Is giving what is owed
Back again one hundred fold.
Maybe in your world
The benefit of doubt
Is for god to give the innocent
When he has sort ‘em out.

Maybe in your world,
You’ll serve no time.
Maybe in your world,
Maybe in your world,
Maybe in your world,
But not in mine.
