I shall assume That we really did go to the Moon And I watched it on TV. Back in '63 it was a dream That's why I wasn't sure But I guess the cure worked And I don't dream no more. No meteorites to fill my nights With splendour and such awe Life's becoming such a bore I want more. If we ever get to Mars Or travel far beyond the stars Can't see me being here to see The wonder and the mystery Unfold. We are born,we live Get old and die That's the way it has to be And sometimes progress is so slow I see that now. But I shall try to stay awake in life To watch us cut through like a knife, The skies above. How I'd love to see Men on Neptune. Ain't going to happen soon. And like '63 The Moon seemed so far away Tomorrow's dreams were yesterday so let's get on with it. Build a ship Send me up I'm going anyway Just another payload to weigh you down a bit Dying's shit But we can outlive if they will only give Me a berth On the next ship leaving Earth.
