Old Man
Will you have the patience
The sympathy
For the old man in me
I one day will be
The needed compassion
Amount of time
When I've come to the end of the line
Of my frame of mind
Can we share in a smile
Can you help me to laugh
Knowing it's the little that counts
When there isn't much left
Can you point me the way
When my mind wanders off
Hold my hand back to the path
Where I don't feel so lost
Can you find the respect
The dignity
The years the gray has taken away
And give some back to me
When it's all said and done
When all done has been said
Will you be by my side the day that I die
And not leave me for dead
