High along the winds of change I fly
Writing more words I'd love to live by
Running away from a looming past
Wondering if any peace will last.
Turbulence hits, and I'm taken aback,
Again and again I'm thrown off track.
The engines fail, but this plane is tough,
Yet, the controls say I'm not fast enough.
Maybe....this dream was never meant to be
Maybe I'd be safer atop a tree.
Much as I long to drown in the pain
Worries are useless, they cause fuel drain.
I've many miles to go before I sleep
Deadlines to meet, promises to keep.
This uncertain flight will still go on
Through sleepless nights, to an unknown dawn.
