They can’t turn the clock back
To before
Ugliness and hatred’s
At it’s core
We fought for Civil Rights
And changed the law
So we’re not coming in
Through the back door

They can’t turn the clock back
To before
We had the right to vote
Or went to war
The urgency of now’s
Hard to ignore
For those of us
Who’ve been keeping score

They can’t turn the clock back
To before
‘Cuz we’re not taking their ****
Anymore
We’re the ones that they say
They abhor
Yet we fought for them
In each and every war

They can’t turn the clock back
To before
We arrived in slave ships
On these shores
The aftermath of which
Runs through our pores
So let me sign off now
Sincerely yours
