A pile of my poems
lies in deepening dust
I look upon it sneering
at its lies in deep disgust
But I cannot say my words are poor
No, my words have richly wrought
the only beauty I could bring
from such an empty thought
To those moments I have gladly said goodbye
that inspired my pen and ink
But I’ll bring out the poems again
for no piece of my art into darkness must sink
