If you sit by my bed
while I’m becoming dead
would you remember please
these words that I’ve said

Watch your thoughts and feelings
guard your mind against
gladness or sadness
or bedside pretense

My journey will depend
on the state of my mind
In peace, please help me
leave this world behind

Farewell to you and yours
As I walk through this door
to everyone I’ve known
I say goodbye for ever more

This end is the beginning
of a world that will be new
This one will disappear
along with me and you
