The way you look in the mirror
the nonchalant way you flip your hair
the head cocked and that little shoulder shrug
as if to say, I'll take it, and your content, to leave it
some things just never change,
that beauty mark only I see
the scars light can't observe
but I know where they hide
the twinkle of an emerald eye
as it shoots up to catch me just right
it winks at me and lets me know it's all ok
I forgive you, let's move on
