I am not your mother
I’m another person
appearing in your life
I took you as my wife

Yet you see me
in a different way some days
when distant memories
can carry you away

Then subterranean things begin to happen
tremors from fracking
toxic gases get injected way below
the layers of the life we think we know

I am not your mother
I’m another person
appearing in your life
I took you as my wife
