The jelly bean poems / 1
You are
all of
the flavors
and colors
and textures
of a
bag
full of
jelly beans.
I recognized
that instantly
about you,
for as a child
I had
that look
too.
and your
eyes over
flowing
with life,
giving light
and warmth
to all
who see
them.
tender resting
places for
a poor man's
soul to
die.
or a old
poet's heart
to wander
about.
you and
your jelly bean
smile,
and dreams
do come
true and
stars due
fall before
your eyes
for a moment.
and now out
of the
black into
the blue,
in this
moment,
I see
you.
