Living in post-war dire poverty
often my parents quarrelled over money
my siblings and I in a quiet corner hid away
such incidents I've not forgotten up to this very day.
*  my parents were war-refugees in the then Malaya having fled South China  when the Japanese invaded China in 1937 and our home-island in 1939
