Candles are made to give light,
A fragrance in some is found.
My best friend's heart gives off light.
I feel great when she's around.  

Most candles have wax and wicks,
And some are electronic.
When it comes to giving light,
It is my friend's heart  I pick.

My friend's smiles beam with sunshine,
They give warmth but do not burn;
To be near her sunny heart,
this is what my heart does yearn.      

Some candles have a fragrance.
Love, my friend's heart never lacks;
I find her heart very sweet,
Even more than are lilacs.
