The crossroad
the testing moment
a sudden holdback
the mind is vexed
time is contracted
the heart is silent
the will is perplexed-

my limbs they seem
not mine-- frozen and alien
is this a mocking dream?
am I in a strange region?

it's neither day nor night
hours are suspended
no winds to stir the still air
the atmosphere is one of dread--

motionless are the grey clouds
the horizon is in mist shrouded
the trees by the roadside statue-like
they stand--- everything seems to be dead-

from nowhere a voice mysteriously descends:
'go forward as your destiny lies just ahead'
my whole being begins to vibrate as though electrified
lo! the mist disperses and I feel the breeze blowing over my head.
