Buns
In the 70s it was a
metaphor with many
uses.
In Catholic Ireland, a
bun in the oven meant,
pregnant.
But across the Irish Sea,
a bun in the hair was not
an innuendo.
Bunny girls were banned
over here, but I never did
find out why.
There is a castle in County
Clare called Bunratty, near
Durty Nelle's.
Somebody told me that
Nelle ran off to London
with a baker.
When she came back she
she started a small shop
selling Hot + Buns.
Now, there was something
cynically symbolic about them,
supposedly, with aphrodisiacs.
