There was once a time
We knew memories from dreams
When children played outside
Instead of watching TV screens

There was once a time
When children liked to chatter
When they were heard about the town
Filled with cheer and laughter

There was once a time
Fairytales had happy endings
When children stood in awe
When hearts did not need mending

There was once a time
People danced in streets
They welcomed the hot summers
And the warmth of summers heat

There was once a time
We fought for what we had
We had faith in new beginnings
When our word was iron clad

There was once a time
We moved forward from the past
We did not look back in angerΒ Β
And loved each moment like our last.
