This summer, I said
I would swim in the pool
I have to, I said
I need to keep cool

This summer, I said
I would exercise more
I must do it, I said
I’ve done it before

This summer, I said
I would go on vacation
I can’t not, I said
Summer’s a celebration!

This summer, I said
I’d have a great time
This will be easy, I said
It’s summertime!

But alas,
Most of that didn’t happen
Except for the last one
All summer we’ve been laughin’

We’ve had fun
Even through the darkest times
Because when I’m with you
Life doesn’t need to rhyme
Another poem I wrote a while ago, after summer ended, also the summer that I found out that my parents were splitting up. Let's just say not the most enjoyable summer of my life, but my mom and my friends made me feel better through all of it.
