Broadway
Riding in the sedan
wishing they stood on the
running board
thinking they were gangsters
back in nineteen thirty-two
in different news a foreign time
some hallway clock.
begins to chime
Pope Clement gives another sign
the first of several more.
Ethel Merman gives a sermon
serves them fresh fish with their bread
some queue up for second helpings
others have to be force fed.
