The shadow of silence

Lurks upon her window sill,

Her fragile fingers play,

Upon the quietness still.

Silence fills

The void of sound,

Oh! How blissful!

Oh ! How profound !

The veil of silence

Adorns the night,

Her mind is still,

To her souls delight.

Even her heart

Has held its beat,

To break not the magic,

Of this quiet retreat.

An autumn leaf drifts

In stillness deep,

To kiss the earth,

Before it must sleep.

Oh! How placid

Is the night,

All voices asleep,

To her souls delight.
