How was I to know that when I
first met you that my heart
would fall in a world of hard
rhythms, broken bassline eyes
squeezed shut, shadowy lips
discolored and dreaming,
ghostly shoulders faded and
spinning, swirling sheet
of skin smothered in dust, as
I tried to distance myself away
from your drumming vibration.
But as much as I tried to hide in the
shadows, I still found myself
sinking inside your lyrical content.
The naked notes were rising from
beneath the ground towards
flaming passion, programmed
layers bleeding bloodstained
hooks, hip twisting tracks
dancing in darkness, while
I inhaled your blazing nation,
every fast forward beat splitting
my soul into choked emotions.
