There’s no need
To swallow your pride
If there’s any left
Then you decide
Get up off your knees
I know you’ve tried
And always let your conscience
Be your guide

What I said
Is get up off your knees
Be a man
Is all I’m asking please
If you can’t
Then lose it in degrees
Not all at once
Cuz you want to appease

If it’s something
That you want real bad
Is it worth the pride
You thought you had
To abandon that
Would be real sad
Cuz if you don’t
I betcha you’ll be glad

Is the prize
Worth the sacrifice
If it’s not
Then take a fool’s advice
Think it over
Maybe once or twice
Before you decide
To roll the dice
