On gypsum is waltz of hair bristles
wood directing the form into brush,
seated in a chair an artist whistles
background ebon yet fingers plush.

Paints salvaged from marked tray
wizened hands flick cigarette ash,
ember burns in a stubby end grey
his yellow teeth grinding as gnash.

Few lights linger dark upon studio
they track his shuffles and sways,
a feeble body his mind burns true
shadows lengthen in paints craze.
