Who felt some rain

An imperfect man

Who bore that stain
With unrivaled courage
Despite the pain

A flawed man
But all the same
Loved his country
And was never her bane
Both as a sailor
And the senator he became

Who fought with honor
Simple and plain
How else is there
To explain
That America’s loss
Is heaven’s gain
