Long live the name
Of John McCain
Who felt some rain
But then again
Knew sunshine too
As we all do
An imperfect man
Through and through

Long live the name
Of John McCain
Who served his country
Without refrain
A prisoner of war
Who bore that stain
With unrivaled courage
Despite the pain

Long live the name
Of John McCain
A flawed man
But all the same
Loved his country
And was never her bane
Both as a sailor
And the senator he became

Long live the name
Of John McCain
Who fought with honor
Simple and plain
How else is there
To explain
That America’s loss
Is heaven’s gain
