MARIA
By: Cedric McClester
Maria
Came and went
But there was little
Sentiment
For those
Who lost their lives
While their memories
Survives
Initially the count
Was low
Though in their hearts
They had to know
What those statistics
Failed to show
After such a devastating
Blow
Now that the truth
Is finally out
And its removed
The shadow of doubt
About the effectiveness
He liked to tout
That FEMA supposedly
Brought about
No words of consolation
Have come
From the mouth
Of the deaf, blind and dump
President voted in
By some
No empathy
His heart is numb
