Scar Tissue
I would have been strong
I would have been different
I would have been loud
And I would have been smart
They were no match
They were naive
They were so sweet
And they wouldn't have been me
She was irresponsible
She was a wild girl
She was asking for it
And if I was she, that wouldn't be my story
Yet tell me why
The day you laid eyes,
I would become everything I despised
Yet tell me why I had not
been strong,
been different,
been loud,
Most importantly,
tell me why I wasn't asking for it
yet you willingly gave to me
the scars of a lifetime.
