You can stop the news
But the word will still get out
It might be a whisper
Or it could be a shout
Still the people will be heard
There isn’t any doubt
And it’s futile for you to
Go the strong-arm route

You can stop the news
But the movement will continue
Out on the public square
Or at another venue
The people are resilient
And you’ll find that when you
Try to restrict their choice
It will still be on the menu

The rule of oppression
One day has to end
Or it will be broken
If it doesn’t bend
The rulers can ignore it
Or they can just pretend
But change is gonna come
In the very end

You can stop the news
And think that your corruption
Forever will continue
Without an interruption
But you would be wrong
It will lead to your destruction
Believe it or not
That’s a logical deduction
