Defending the indefensible
Is not a matter of principle
In a word is incomprehensible
Or better yet reprehensible
But you can hear the chant
From the mouth of a sycophant
Sounding a sibilant
To give it a certain slant

If it’s purely a matter of choice
How do you justify giving a voice
To Booker T. over DuBois
It’s just a matter of perspective
On the part of one who’s reflective
Representing the collective
In a matter worthy of invective
Or at the very least a corrective

Why would you want to defend?
Or for that matter try to pretend
That you’re in it for a just end
When it’s impossible to comprehend
Who is it you’re trying to serve
Is it someone that might not deserve
Your support should be held in reserve
In deference to what you observe

Why should you come to the aid,
Of someone whose bed is already made?
See that’s not me throwing shade
At those so easily swayed
It’s just a salient fact
Based on the way that they act
They need to be attacked
And not a word of it will I redact
