You found me a broken man in the ditch of life
You knew of me, knew my past, knew the scars of his knife.
They still bled as you tried to bandage the wounds.
You told me that it would all be over soon.

At night, under the stars and moon we’d usually meet
The water would sparkle as the grass tickled our feet.
Tell me more stories, more lies, more truths
Because I can’t get enough; your mind I must consume.

But can you mend this heart and slay the dragons of my past?
Can you tell me that this time my happiness will last?
Can you promise me the things that I hold so dear
Mistrust, denial, anger and fear.

Can you fix my mind and finally make it right?
Can you turn the moon into the sun and shine it bright?
What kind of miracle powers do you possess?
Because to be honest, my dear, I’m a ******* mess.

I don’t know what this is, this wall between you and me.
Is it the past, present, future? Maybe in time we’ll see.
I don’t know what this is, what we have right now.
But I know that it’s beautiful and heartbreaking somehow.

The bittersweet words that you tell me make me grin
Because I know that slowly, you’re starting to let me in.
I don’t expect much. This you need to know
Because I don’t have much love left in me that is able to grow.

So tell me your lies, denials, anger, and fear
I will stand here more than willing to hear
The sad stories, mumblings, and dramatic prose.
The ramblings, murmuring, rumors, highs and lows.
