I sometimes live life as monk
In solo solitary reflection

Put yourself in public and
Your past can parade by

A surfeit of friendships
Stopped to chat today

As I labored to finish a fence
Something there is that loves it

A confluence of friendship
With a past that is now

Reminds me of a child’s rhyme :
“One is silver but the other’s gold”
