Riptide
A friendship forming, A warm breeze, sunshine on my soul
as my life was taking its toll
Feeling relaxed, ready to explore and dip my feet in the water
Tentatively at first, but it was so clear, calming, and seducing, I dove in
I swam around in pure joy and discovery, reality left behind
Quick, without warning, you crept in and wouldn’t leave my mind
Your words are like the current lulling me and carrying me farther from my safe zone
Before I realized it I could barely see the shore
I’m caught in your riptide
I fight against it and keep getting pulled in and feel like my heart is in a tailspin
This is dangerous and I could drown
How do I get back?
Do I want to?
I have no choice.
