Helen of Troy earrings
We kissed into the night as it sped on
A candle ironically singing to us
As if this were some kind of romance
We speak excitedly
You bounce the ball back to me
I watch it hit, spike
Fly up above my head
I reach with long lean arms
Catch it
And throw it right back again.

A greenish blue light seems to follow you wherever you go
You are transparent and honest
You said you were all about this
Nothing chill about it
I wonder quietly to myself
If that will keep you interested.

You watched my face
All through my pleasure
Every time I looked your way
You were looking down
You use the word baby like the cream you like
In your coffee
We nudge each other hard
With silly voices
And a knowledgable banter.

You aren't looking for love
Though I long for it in my life
(Though I always have)
Maybe I'm not either
Not right now.
